Pocky is a Japanese snack produced by Ezaki Glico company.it consists of a chocolate-coated biscuit stick, as well as an assortment of other flavors. It was later brought into the U.S and other parts of the world, The product was sold in 1966, and for 53 years the box design has stayed somewhat the same for all of it.
The redesign I went for was one where the product slogan come into play "Share Happiness", Pocky is a snack that was made to be shared with anyone from anywhere. The design is made with a smiling Shiba Inu name Akari with a Pocky stick in her mouth. Pocky sticks fly along side and behind her creating a fun and energetic environment.
The background design is a drastic change from the original while the name is slightly change to a Helvetica Black font keeping it clear with a slight arch from the original. The reason a Shiba Inu is used on the cover is for a fresh change, and the fact that a Shiba Inu originates from Japan.
Much of the information is the same with the removal of repetitive nutritional information. The side have a image of a real Pocky stick to give the customer a size and look comparison.
The new box design has a slider on the side with a circular opening at the top for quick convenience of the go. although it can still be opened to easily share with other people around.
The redesign is targeted towards millennials. this design and easy convince would give millennials a quick relief from the stresses of life. The happy smile of a dog on the cover with the joy of eating this snack giving them the idea that this is a snack to be enjoyed.
